Heartland U19 Crowned Champions of Imo State Dare To Dream Football TournamentHeartland U19 have clinched the title at the Imo State Dare To Dream Football Tournament after defeating Heartland Feeders 8–7 on penalties in a dramatic final played on Wednesday at the Old Stadium, Tetlow Road, Owerri.
Both teams battled fiercely in regulation time but failed to find the breakthrough, despite creating several scoring chances. With the game ending goalless, the U19 side held their nerve in the tense shootout to secure the coveted trophy.
The victory adds to an impressive growing list of achievements for the young Naze Millionaires under the guidance of Coach Emeka Okoronkwo. Heartland U19 had earlier won the Game On Afrika Tournament for Teams in the Imo Center and were crowned champions of the Nigeria Nationwide League in Eket, Akwa Ibom State, in September.
Coach Taribo, speaking after the match, commended his players for their unwavering commitment throughout the competition and also extended appreciation to the Imo State Commissioner for Sports, Hon. Obinna Onyeocha, for his consistent support for youth development.
“I am extremely proud of these boys. Their hunger, commitment, and unity have brought us this far, and today’s victory is another testament to their hard work. Every competition we go into, they give their all, and that is why they continue to excel. I also want to sincerely appreciate the Commissioner for Sports, Hon. His passion for nurturing young talents in Imo State is remarkable, and this trophy is dedicated to everyone who believes in these young stars,” he said.
The triumph further cements Heartland U19’s status as one of the most vibrant and promising youth teams in Imo State and across Nigeria.
