Nigeria Edge Ghana on Penalties to Clinch Pan-African G.O.A.T Tournament Title in Accra
Nigeria have been crowned champions of the Pan-African G.O.A.T (Game On Afrika Tournament) after edging hosts Ghana 4–2 on penalties following a pulsating 1–1 draw at the Madina Zongo pitch in Accra.
The high-stakes encounter between Nigeria Selected and Ghana Selected delivered exactly what fans anticipated—intensity, technical quality, and late drama. Nigeria struck first in the 40th minute, but the Ghanaians replied almost immediately, restoring parity before halftime.
With both teams tightening up defensively in the second half, chances were limited, and the match stretched into a tense penalty shootout. Nigeria showed superior composure from the spot, converting four of their kicks to seal the continental triumph.
Coach Felix Ifeanyi Nwosu, popularly known as Abacha, was full of emotion after the victory, describing the feat as special.
“I feel so excited… Winning a Pan-African tournament away from home is not an easy task. Thanks to the organisers,” the CAF B-Licensed coach stated.
The achievement comes just two weeks after Nwosu guided Enugu GOAT to win the Nigerian edition of the Game On Afrika Tournament, beating Imo GOAT 5–4 on penalties in another dramatic finale.
In Ghana, the Greater Accra Region team had earlier emerged champions of the national edition, setting up the much-anticipated cross-border showdown—which Nigeria ultimately won.
The triumph underscores the growth of Nigerian grassroots and developmental football, highlighting the depth of emerging talent and the growing competitiveness of the Game On Afrika platform across the continent.
