CGC Volleyball League Day 4: CNS Tighten Grip, Customs Remain Relentless as Race for Abuja Glory Heats Up

Day 4 of the 2025 Comptroller General of Customs Volleyball Premier League in Abuja delivered another pulsating round of matches across both categories, further reshaping the momentum established on Day 3. With contenders jostling for supremacy and struggling teams fighting for revival, the stakes climbed even higher at the Moshood Abiola Stadium.

Building on the intensity of Day 3—where Police recovered strongly, Customs and CNS extended their dominance, and Kano Pillars kept their title dreams alive—Day 4 brought sharper battles, shocking dips in form, and clearer separation between genuine contenders and hopefuls.

MEN’S CATEGORY: CNS Outclass Pillars, Customs Stay Solid as Police Charge Back

The most anticipated fixture of the day lived up to its billing as CNS Spikers delivered a masterful 3–0 win over high-flying Kano Pillars (25–22, 25–20, 25–19). Pillars—brilliant in their previous outings—struggled to match CNS’ superior coordination and tactical discipline. The win cements CNS’ status as the team to beat.

NAF Rockets produced one of their strongest performances of the final phase, overpowering Kada Kings 3–0 (25–15, 27–25, 25–16). Rockets’ firepower at the net and improved defensive transitions proved decisive, leaving Kada still searching for consistency.

UCEM continued their rise with a confident 3–1 triumph over NSCDC (25–13, 25–17, 24–26, 25–17). Despite NSCDC stealing the third set, UCEM maintained control for most of the encounter and sealed a well-earned victory.

Nigeria Police Force built on their Day 3 resurgence, dismissing Offa VC 3–0 (25–23, 25–15, 25–17). Police’s renewed aggression at the service line and cleaner execution ensured a comfortable sweep.

One of the day’s most dramatic fixtures saw COAS Spikers defeat Sunshine Spikers 3–2. After splitting the opening sets (25–19, 16–25, 23–25, 25–13), COAS stormed through the final set 15–8, showing impressive mental toughness to complete the comeback.

Nigeria Customs Service maintained top form with a hard-fought 3–1 victory over Nigeria Correctional Service (25–21, 25–18, 18–25, 28–26). Correctional pushed the champions to the brink in the fourth set, but Customs’ experience sealed the deal in extra points.

WOMEN’S CATEGORY: CNS, COAS, and Anambra Shine as Customs Watch Closely

CNS Spikers Women delivered the day’s most dominant performance, sweeping Olalomi Royal Queens 3–0 (25–12, 25–11, 25–17). Their clinical efficiency and powerful serves left no room for resistance.

NSCDC Women bounced back emphatically, overpowering NAF Rockets 3–0 (25–23, 25–18, 25–22). With strong blocking and quick transitions, NSCDC regained lost momentum from earlier matchdays.

COAS Spikers Women maintained strong form with a commanding 3–0 victory over Wikki Queens (25–15, 25–12, 25–20). Wikki improved in the third set but could not halt COAS’ overall dominance.

Life Camp VC returned to winning ways with a disciplined 3–1 win over Kada Emeralds (25–19, 21–25, 25–23, 25–19). After losing the second set, Life Camp tightened their defence to close the match convincingly.

In one of the most competitive women’s fixtures of Day 4, Anambra Queens defeated Benue Queens 3–1 (25–20, 25–23, 23–25, 26–24). The fourth set was a thriller, but Anambra held firm to seal the win.

Day 4 underscored CNS Spikers’ growing command in both divisions, while Customs continued to demonstrate the resilience of defending champions. Kano Pillars’ loss reshaped the men’s title picture, Police kept their late surge alive, and rising sides like UCEM and COAS added new twists to the race.

With only a few matchdays left, the charge toward the 2025 CGC Volleyball Premier League crown is now tighter, fiercer, and more unpredictable than ever.
