Ex-Deputy Governor, Madumere Urges Compassion, Selflessness Among Imo Citizens on Valentine’s Day
Former Deputy Governor of Imo State, Prince Eze Madumere, has extended warm Valentine’s Day greetings to the people of Imo State, urging them to embrace the true essence of love beyond celebrations and festivities.
In his message, Madumere described February 14 as a reminder of the enduring virtues of compassion, sacrifice, unity and selflessness, which he said remain critical to building a peaceful and progressive society.
He noted that Valentine’s Day should not only be about the exchange of gifts but about demonstrating genuine care for one another, especially the vulnerable, the less privileged and those facing difficult times.
According to him, “Valentine’s Day calls us back to the fundamentals of humanity. Love is the foundation upon which families are built, communities are strengthened and nations are transformed.”
Madumere emphasized that Imo State, with its rich cultural heritage and strong communal bonds, thrives best when its people live in harmony. He encouraged citizens to use the occasion to mend broken relationships, promote forgiveness and foster peaceful coexistence across political, religious and social lines.
“Our diversity should be a source of strength, not division. Love remains the greatest force for unity,” he stated.
The former Deputy Governor also charged leaders at all levels to lead with empathy and a genuine commitment to the welfare of the people. He stressed that leadership rooted in love and service inspires hope and drives sustainable development. “When leadership is guided by love, justice and fairness naturally follow,” he added.
Addressing the youth, Madumere urged them to channel their energy into productive ventures and to show love through responsible actions that contribute positively to society. He reminded them that true love reflects in respect, discipline and a willingness to uplift others rather than exploit or harm them.
He concluded by wishing families, friends and residents of Imo State a memorable Valentine’s Day celebration, praying for renewed peace, prosperity and unity across the state. Madumere reaffirmed his abiding faith in the resilience of the people, expressing confidence that through love and collective goodwill, Imo State will continue on the path of progress and shared prosperity.
