Ejiro Expresses Surprise After Women’s 100m Win at Edo 2026
Delta State continued its sprint dominance at the Niger Delta Games as Ejiro Peter surged to victory in the women’s 100 metres, stopping the clock at 11.55 seconds to clinch the gold medal.
The young sprinter could hardly contain her excitement after crossing the finish line ahead of her rivals. For Ejiro, the triumph was both unexpected and deeply fulfilling.
“I was never expecting it but it came and I am very excited,” she said with visible joy. “It is a big honour for me to compete for my state.”
Her victory is a testament to discipline, belief, and teamwork. Ejiro was quick to acknowledge the support system behind her success, paying tribute to her coach and everyone who stood by her during her preparation.
“I want to appreciate my coach and others that believe in me,” she added.
Beyond the regional success, Ejiro’s ambitions stretch far beyond the Niger Delta. With her eyes firmly set on the global stage, she has already begun dreaming bigger.
“I am hoping to be among the World junior athletes in the next couple of years. I will keep on working hard.”
