Royal Rangers Grand Competition Gathers Momentum as Knockout Race Heats Up
The Royal Rangers Grand Football Competition continued to produce exciting grassroots football last weekend, with the battle for places in the knockout stage intensifying.
On Saturday, September 19, Nice FC defeated Cornel FC 2-0, with Ikenna playing a starring role and earning the Man of the Match award. The day’s other scheduled game saw LakeCity FC Ltd awarded three points via walkover after Macbon Gladiators failed to appear despite the match officials waiting for over one hour for Macbon Gladiators to arrive.
Royal Rangers edge Soccer Warriors 1-0 in their rescheduled Group A encounter.
After a fiercely contested goalless opening period, Kingsley Etim produced a spectacular bicycle-kick winner in the dying moments, earning himself the Man of the Match honour.
Elsewhere, Wibema FA and Soccer Warriors met in the Group A final fixture, with Soccer Warriors winning 1-0 through Divine Israel, whose header from Favour Nkwocha’s free-kick secured their passage to the next stage. KHP FC and IMSU FC battled to a 0-0 draw, while other results recorded in the competition include Wibema FA 2-2 Dynamic Stars and Nova FC 0-2 Zion Boys, with Ekpere Miracle scoring both goals for Zion Boys.
Attention now turns to September 26 and 27. Saturday’s programme has:

The competition is supported by Nze Nwaokeke Paul Uche, popularly known as Isikaraka, an Ahiazu Mbaise-born entrepreneur and CEO of PaulClay Investment Ltd.
His investment is aimed at promoting grassroots football, providing a platform for young talents to showcase their abilities and contributing to youth development in his catchment area.
There is also ₦300,000 in total prize money, with the eventual champion taking ₦200,000 and the runner-up receiving ₦100,000.
