Clinical Heartland Queens Outclass Naija Ratels in NWFL Encounter
Heartland Queens produced a confident and well-structured performance to defeat Naija Ratels 2–0 in their NWFL clash, asserting control from start to finish.
The Owerri side set the tone early with aggressive pressing and attacking intent, though clear chances initially went begging. Emmanuella James and Oluebube Umejiaku both came close before the breakthrough finally arrived in the 24th minute, when Faith Samson calmly converted from the penalty spot.
Buoyed by the opener, Heartland Queens continued to dominate and doubled their lead nine minutes later. Umejiaku made amends for her earlier miss, rising highest to power home a header and give her side a comfortable cushion heading into the break.
Naija Ratels showed improved urgency in the second half, pushing forward in search of a response, but Heartland Queens remained organized at the back and dangerous on the counter. Despite creating additional chances, the hosts could not extend their lead, while the visitors lacked the cutting edge to mount a comeback.
Substitutions in the latter stages helped Heartland Queens maintain control as they saw out the game professionally to secure all three points.
The win has lifted the Owerri Landladies to the sixth spot with 14 points from 11 games while Naija Ratels remain at the bottom of the log with five points.
