Edo Queens Coach Sets Sights On Bayelsa Queens Showdown

Edo Queens head coach Moses Aduku has urged his players to remain focused despite retaining topspot of the NWFL Premiership Super Six table with a crucial 2-1 victory over Rivers Angels on Friday in Port Harcourt.

Goals from substitute Precious Oscar and Super 6 leading scorer Chioma Moses secured all three points, while Abasiofon Uwah scored for Rivers Angels.

The win took Edo Queens to nine points from four matches and left them needing only a draw against defending champions Bayelsa Queens on the final day to retain their title.

“We want to thank God for this victory and at the same time I want to give kudos to my girls for playing to instructions and believing in ourselves that we can stage a comeback after the opening defeat,” Aduku said.

The Falconets coach revealed that introducing Precious Oscar was a tactical move that paid immediate dividends.

“I needed to revive the left side and I told Precious Oscar that when she came in she must ensure the left side starts functioning again. I am happy her first touch of the ball resulted in a goal. She listens to instructions.”

Aduku insisted celebrations would wait until after Sunday’s decisive clash against Bayelsa Queens.

“We are focusing on our last game against Bayelsa Queens immediately we get to the hotel. We are not celebrating yet.”
