Delta State Set for Youth Football Showdown as Ekwueme U-18 Super 4 Return

The second edition of the Ifeanyi Ekwueme U-18 Super 4 Cup is set to light up the Ughelli Stadium in Delta State on May 26, as four states converge for a thrilling showcase of youth football.

Backed by former Super Eagles midfielder, Ifeanyi Ekwueme, the two-day tournament continues to grow in stature as a platform dedicated to unearthing young talents and strengthening grassroots development across the country.

Hosts Delta State will kick off the action against Anambra State at 7am, setting the tone for what promises to be an exciting opening day. Bayelsa State will then square up against Rivers State at 9am, with both fixtures expected to deliver fierce competition and emerging brilliance.

Winners from the opening matches will advance to the grand finale slated for May 27 at 4pm, where the battle for supremacy will reach its peak.
Ekwueme, who has served as Sporting Director at Enyimba and Heartland, and currently leads Diana-Emi FC in the Nationwide League One, continues to demonstrate a strong commitment to youth football through this initiative.

His investment reflects a broader trend of former internationals giving back to the game by nurturing the next generation.

Organisers emphasised that the competition is designed not just to provide exposure for budding players, but also to encourage healthy rivalry among states. With scouts and key football stakeholders expected in attendance, the tournament offers a valuable opportunity for young stars to make lasting impressions.

Following the success of its maiden edition, anticipation is high for an even more competitive and impactful outing this year, as the future of Nigerian football takes centre stage in Ughelli.
