In a congratulatory message dated January 20, 2026, Kida conveyed the pride of the Nigerian basketball family, describing Oyedeji’s emergence onto the global stage as a landmark achievement for both the sport and the country. He noted that Oyedeji’s election reflects Nigeria’s growing influence within international sports administration.
The NBBF President described the appointment as thoroughly deserved, citing Oyedeji’s years of dedication to athlete development, leadership, and service to sports beyond the court. According to Kida, these qualities made Oyedeji a natural choice for such a high-profile global role.
Kida further stressed that the position underscores Oyedeji’s unwavering commitment to advancing the welfare of athletes across different sporting disciplines, while also strengthening the voice of Olympians worldwide.
Expressing excitement at the development, the Federation praised the emergence of “one of our own” in a leadership role within the World Olympians Association, describing it as a moment of collective pride for Nigerian basketball.
Looking ahead, Kida voiced confidence that Oyedeji’s tenure would leave a lasting impact on global sports, particularly by inspiring young athletes to pursue excellence both on and off the field.
